Biotechnology Business Development Centre

Built in 1986 and renovated in 2010, the Biotechnology Business Development Centre (BBDC) is a multi-tenant accelerator centre. The BBDC is strategically located in the Edmonton Research Park, just 15 minutes from the Edmonton International Airport, the University of Alberta, and Edmonton’s downtown business core.

Since 2007 the facility has filled a crucial need in the Edmonton ecosystem, providing flexibly, leasable lab space to private companies.  Currently there are 13 tenants operating in private commercialization, contract research and product scaleup.  Demand for labs is high, as Edmonton has a limited supply of leasable, private lab space.

The BBDC is ideal for growing biotech companies who are ready to establish a strong corporate identity in the Edmonton marketplace. A highly flexible core structure is complemented by fully equipped, flexible labs (including fume hoods, autoclaves and glasswashers) and niche vivarium facilities.

An integration of live, work and play, ICE District will feature retail, hospitality, office towers, residential buildings, entertainment and a first class hotel, centered around the new home of Edmonton’s National Hockey League team, the Edmonton Oilers.

The JW Marriott Edmonton ICE District & Residences is a mixed-use skyscraper being built in the new ICE District. It will be a combination of J.W. Marriott hotel and residential condos named Legends Private Residences.
